Monroe Free Library

Town of Monroe, NY

MJS Engineering & Land Surveying, PC was retained to provide engineering and land surveying services for the Monroe Free Library's building expansion.  This expansion consists of 29,000 SF on three floors.  A Full Environmental Assessment Form, Site Plan and Zoning Board of Appeals Application were prepared.

 

U.S. Postal Service - Process and Distribution Center

Cincinnati, OH

Working with Lockwood Green Engineers, we analyzed two sites for this 537,000 sq.ft. postal service process and distribution center. The work performed was site utilization, stormwater management, and coordination with local officials and utility analysis. One site was complicated by a 10' x 20' combined sewer in which a novel solution was designed to bridge this structure with the new facility.

U.S. Postal Service - Process and Distribution Center

Greensboro, NC

MJS Engineering & Land Surveying worked with Lockwood Greene Engineers to provide site engineering and utilization to assemble a design/bid package for a 450,000 SF process and distribution center and vehicle and storage building along for the USPS.  This office teamed with local officials and the USPS Economic Development Team to review geotechnical information and provide the preliminary layout for stormwater utilities on site.  In addition, we assembled the design/bid package, including specifications. 

 

U.S. Postal Service - Spokane International Airport

Spokane, WA

MJS Engineering & Land Surveying assisted Lockwood Greene Engineers in the site aspects of the preparation of a design/build package for the United States Postal Service’s Process & Distribution Center.  This is a 400,000 SF building on property owned by the Spokane Airport Authority.  Our office coordinated with the Authority for the requirements regarding access, roads, utilities, and stormwater management.  This information was compiled and given to the design/build team for the eventual construction of the facility.  Constraints regarding the airport revolved around utility, height restrictions, and lighting.

 

Federal Express Corporation

East Hanover, NJ

We were asked to prepare a report on the existing condition of the pavement around the Federal Express facility located in East Hanover, New Jersey.  This was a recently constructed building that had its base course applied; however, there was extensive alligator cracking and pavement failure throughout the site.  The evaluation that took place was the review of the existing plans, conversations with the Town Building Dept., and a pavement evaluation.

We were able to assist the client in recommending additional remedial work that had to be done in order to meet the requirements of the original site plan, as well as provide a suitable parking and maneuvering area for this facility.

 

Brookhaven National Lab

Brookhaven, NY

Complete site design, detail and specifications for a 12,000 sq.ft. expansion to their applied science building.  Assignment also consisted of providing handicap parking and access to the existing building to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Teleview Optics

Chester, NY

MJS Engineering & Land Surveying was retained to provide the site plan design for a new 10,800 SF building to house their corporate office and production facility.  This office laid out the grading, drainage and parking lot for the proposed building location.  We successfully obtained site plan approvals from the Town of Chester Planning Board.

Continental Airlines, JFK International Airport

Queens, NY

MJS Engineering & Land Surveying worked with Lockwood Greene Engineers to review Environmental Site Assessments, prepare contract documents for utility locations and contract documents for construction of this airline hub at JFK International Airport.  Extensive coordination with Port Authority was necessary to ensure proper design for aircraft maneuvering and full compliance.  Special precautions were taken to allow for cargo handling, and vehicle and aircraft traffic, due to the tight tolerances on site as it relates to cargo handling, special precautions were necessary for the loading and unloading of the trucks as well as the aircraft.

 

Park Ridge Ambulance & Fire Company

Park Ridge, NJ

Preparation of plans, specifications, grading, drainage and environmental impact of a proposed ambulance and fire house on the municipal complex site.  Working in conjunction with the project architect, we designed a layout in which the ambulance and fire companies could have optimal response time.  This was accomplished by providing one-way out traffic pattern honoring the existing parking requirements of the municipal complex and the public library located on the same site.

 

Office of General Services

Wallkill, NY

Prepared site plans for a maximum security prison.  This included grading, soil erosion, parking, and utilities.  The layout was sensitive to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation wetlands and strict design criteria necessary due to the intended use.
